Day 07 of Learning How To Type Faster In 30 Days

117 WPM

Today is the Day 07 of Learning How To Type Faster In 30 Days

Current Status

Current Typing Speed (WPM): 68 WPM

Accuracy Percentage: 85 to 90%

Any Milestone Reached? — YES! I hit 68 WPM for the first time and maintained a speed above 62 WPM.

What Did I Do Today?

Today, I finally broke through the plateau. After two days of feeling like I was just stuck at the same speed, I went back to watching some tutorials and really tried to understand what I was doing wrong. So 1. Found the sites that the top typists use:

And 2. I came to the conclusion that the tricks and tips are the same in every typing video… So here’s what I need to follow:

  1. Think in terms of words, not letters.
  2. Type with atleast 6 to 7 fingers.
  3. Use ctrl+delete to quickly delete words and keep the flow going.

Reflection

What Felt Easier Today?

Typing really clicked when I started focusing on typing each word as a whole unit instead of thinking about individual letters. Like, instead of breaking down “word” as w-o-r-d, I just went for it as “word.”

That shift made a noticeable difference in my speed, and I felt more fluid.

That I think improved my speed

What Was Challenging?

Maintaining consistency, especially when trying to incorporate the home row typing style. It’s still a challenge to balance speed with accuracy when I’m really pushing myself.

Learning

Did I Learn Something New Today?

Not so much new tricks, but the reminder to type in terms of words rather than letters definitely helped.

Tomorrow’s Goal

Typing Speed Goal (WPM):

I want to keep this momentum going. My aim is to maintain today’s high of 68 WPM, but I’d be happy with anything over 62 WPM as a solid baseline.

Focus Area:

I need to really focus on my accuracy while pushing for speed, especially using the home row style.

It’s crazy that I’ve already hit the end of the first week. I can’t believe how far I’ve come—68 WPM feels like a massive leap from where I started. Tomorrow, I’ll do a full weekly analysis and see how much progress I’ve made.

So that’s Day 07 of 30. Feeling pumped to see where this goes! I’ll catch you tomorrow for the weekly breakdown.
